Our 8th Principle

Channing Memorial Church voted to affirm the 8th Principle of the Unitarian Universalist Association, April 24, 2022.

"We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions, dedicated to summoning the courage to confront racism and other oppressions in all their guises."

The Eighth Principle

Where Did This Come From Originally?

Why Now?

Why the UUA (USA)?

Why Single Out Racism?

What is Beloved Community?

What Does It Mean To Be Accountable?

"In adopting the 8th Principle, Channing Memorial Church has committed itself to anti-oppression work. I am eager to determine next steps and make a difference in the community around us.  As a church community, we strive to be a source of love and healing in the world."
